Artist's Comments

One of my finals that's due, well... today. In a few hours. I'm tired.

Anyway, we had to layout a small booklet of quotes and/or short poems, and while we didn't have to have a consistent theme from page to page, I chose Metal Gear Solid as the source of my quotes.

We had to have at least 16 pages, including the front and back cover, and we could use any combination of one-pagers and two-page spreads. I went with seven two-pagers, just because it's less work and that's how you get through college... =__=

So, yeah, nothin' special, but I rather like how it turned out, so I figured I'd post it up and share...

Obviously, full view is going to be optimal here, since it's a rather tall image...

And I used a few custom brush sets (in the Meryl/Snake picture for the flowers) from :iconaramisdream: and :iconsolenero73:

Everything else obviously consists of some filtered and touched up screenshots from the MGS games and some random images I found on Google. A few things I made myself, either from scratch or by doctoring some things up a bit.
This project was about layout, so I wasn't concerned with doing a whole lot of brand new work just to make it stand out...

Anyway... that about wraps 'er all up. I need sleep...

Metal Gear Solid ©Konami
brushes: ~Aramisdream and ~solenero73
Cover art: Yoji Shinkawa
MGS logo design: Hideo Kojima
all other images, if they weren't stock already, were just found on Google...
Layout/Compilation: me

P.S. - Also of note is the Ocelot picture... hehe, I couldn't actually find a good screenshot of him that did well after scaling it up (since he's rather elusive for much of MGS1 and 2, at least the first halves of the games), so what you've got there is actually a photo of the McFarlane action figure of him. That's why he looks so much more 'doctored' than the other pictures; I overcompensated with the dry brush filter and didn't 'buffer down' the details enough beforehand. I tried to smoothen him out some so he wouldn't be so juxtaposed against the polygonal models... Oh well...

MGS truly has the best quotes ever. just more proof that Kojima is a god of video games, and a good... viewer?... watcher? of current events.

Beautiful job with this man, and hope you got a good grade. :3 and yeah, i figured that Ocelot was an action figure.

fav'd
